Jeremiah E. Burke High School and Combined Library Project

W.T. Rich completed extensive renovations to the Existing High School and a New Addition including a High School Library, Gymnasium, New Public Library and Community Center. This project was extremely challenging on all levels including design, coordination, budgeting, and time. The existing building was completely renovated with New Bathrooms, HVAC Systems, and Electrical updates along with Exterior Masonry Restoration, Aggregate Piers and Vast Structural Shoring associated to the Erection of the New Cafeteria. The New Addition, Gymnasium and Library Project presented its own challenges with Deep Excavation, Numerous Latent Soil Conditions and Structural and Mechanical Additions requiring constant attention to detail. In closing, the project finished ahead of time allowing the Owner to move into their buildings and proudly opening for School on September 4, 2008. “The Burke Is Back”

The Burke H.S. project ranks as the largest and most complex projects that I have worked on and managed. The project required significant attention to detail and patience given the scale and difficulties when working with an existing building, addition and adjacent new construction - W.T. Rich provided much experience, foresight, and care to varying issues throughout the construction process which was absolutely necessary for the successful completion of the project. It has been our experience that when Architects and Contractors work together, the results benefit everyone, especially the Client. All too often, construction puts people against one another - W.T. Rich proactively worked against time, cost, and the unforeseen not parties involved. We are extremely pleased with the results at the Burke and eagerly look forward to the next opportunity to collaborate with W.T. Rich.
