The Site Visit

W.T. Rich, saam architecture and Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island are teaming up to design and build Kyle’s dream treehouse! A site visit with Kyle and his family on Wednesday, October 19, marked the beginning of this special journey. Follow along as we spend the next several months working together to bring Kyle's vision to life.

 

Brennan Consulting Donates Time to Survey

On December 17, 2022, Brennan Conulsting devoted an entire Saturday to surveying Kyle’s property, collecting important data and identifying exact property line locations to pinpoint the best spot to build Kyle’s dream treehouse. Their generosity has allowed the W.T. Rich & saam architecture Make-A-Wish team to push our journey forward and move one step closer to fulfilling Kyle’s wish!

 

Foley Buhl Roberts & Associates, Inc., Volunteers Structural Engineering Expertise

On behalf of W.T. Rich, saam architecture and Make-A-Wish, we would like to thank Foley Buhl Roberts & Associates, Inc., for volunteering to provide the structural aspects of Kyle’s treehouse drawings. Their structural engineering expertise will facilitate the necessary approval from the Town of Grafton’s building inspector and allow us to move forward with our journey. With construction set to commence in early spring, Foley Buhl Roberts & Associates is playing a pivotal role in granting Kyle’s wish. Thank you!

 

Kyle's Final Renderings

The W.T. Rich and saam architecture team spoke with Kyle to identify exactly what he had in mind for his treehouse. After putting the renderings in front of him, Kyle said they were "amazing!" The project team is in the donations and material collection phase.

 

Donations

The project team established a goal of $25,000 to accumulate the necessary resources and materials for Kyle's treehouse. With support from many of our subcontractors, family members and friends, we surpassed our goal by $600! If you have not donated and would still like to, please visit the donation page. The best part, any donations that we do not use will go directly back into Make-A-Wish to help fund another child's wish!

Construction

After months of collecting donations, passing building inspections, conducting land surveys and everything in between, construction of "Kyle's Krib" is off and running and we couldn't be more excited! Thank you to every single one of our donors for helping us get to this point - we wouldn't be here without your generosity and support. And a very special thank you to our WTR team who have selflessly committed their free time (after regular work hours AND on weekends) to bring Kyle's vision to life. It has already surpassed expectations and we are still three weeks away from the ribbon cutting! Keep up the excellent work everyone!

Kyle's Krib Wish Reveal

We celebrated the culmination of our Make-A-Wish treehouse journey with Kyle, his family and friends, our incredible sponsors and our friends at Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Kyle’s Krib has been in the works since September of 2022, and while it may not be a 200,000-sf building that we have become accustomed to building, there is no downplaying the hurdles, effort and time that went into reaching this milestone.

Thank you to the W.T. Rich team members who spent the last nine months collecting donations, passing building inspections, conducting land surveys and selflessly committing their free time to bringing Kyle’s vision to life. We are also extremely grateful for the contributions from so many of our construction partners in helping us reach the finish line. The final product undoubtedly surpassed expectations and witnessing Kyle’s reaction to his Wish Reveal was nothing short of magical.
