Boston Collegiate Charter School

OVERVIEW

Recognized as a leading Massachusetts middle and high school, Boston Collegiate Charter School had experienced significant growth over the past few years. This growth created the need for an expanded upper school campus to include 13 new classrooms, breakout rooms and small offices, a college career counseling suite, and the school's first multipurpose cafeteria/convening space.

W.T. Rich was hired to manage the construction of two additions to the existing 1926 building; an 11,800 square foot, 3-story classroom addition over a renovated parking garage and a 3,100 square foot multi-purpose assembly space between the existing 1926 high school and 1914 middle school. Additional scope of work included mechanical and architectural renovations to the existing building along with new windows and site improvements.

The project was located on a tight, urban site within the middle of a residential neighborhood. Extensive communication between our team and the neighborhood was critical to the success of this project. W.T. Rich updated residents weekly of all construction activities that would directly affect their street and flow of traffic. Additionally, given the tight site and restricted area for project materials, our project team meticulously planned and coordinated all project deliveries to ensure materials were being utilized in the most effective manner.
